First Debian Conference
The First Debian Conference will take place at Bordeaux from the 5th to the 9th of July 2000, profiting from the Libre Software Meeting organised by ENSERB and ABUL, and supported by FSF and APRIL, which is being held there at that time.
The aim of the conference is to gather together Debian developers and advanced users, in one place (Bordeaux) -- at the same moment in time (from the 5th to the 9th of July 2000) -- and with the same single goal (to further the aims of Debian and restriction-free software).
For the first time, "Debian" as an organisation will take form as a physical entity in its own right.
Overall, this assembly is both a working meeting and an opportunity to get together with others; not only other like-minded Debian enthusiasts, but also other notables of the Libre Software world, specifically, users (open presentations to the public will be organised).
The conference programme will consist of presentations, general and technical talks / lectures, BOF groups and coding parties. If you have any comments, criticism, or suggestions to make, please subscribe to the mailing-list specifically set up to discuss these matters
A special list has been set up to deal with matters specific to Debian: email@example.com. To subscribe, send an e-mail message to firstname.lastname@example.org, with "subscribe debian" in the subject line. The default language for all correspondence is English; but it is permissible to send messages in French, making sure they are flagged [french] in the subject line.
If you too would like to help in bringing together all these volunteers -- either by offering financial aid, or by donation of goods in kind -- see the LSM's sponsor page . Thanks in advance!
